On Friday evening, N was riding home in the truck with P, when out of the blue he asked, "Why does Mommy have my baby brother in her tummy?"
WHAT?!
Today I'm 5 days post-FET. We have not breathed a word about this transfer to anyone, let alone our 3 year-old. In fact, I've gone out of my way to avoid doing anything in his line of vision that could raise questions (which is challenging when juggling pills, vaginal suppositories, and injections throughout the day). We've never really discussed the concept of him having a future younger sibling, in part because we just don't know if it will happen. He's mentioned it once or twice at random, but usually only after he's been around someone else who has a brother or sister.
He has already asked where babies come from (gah!) and we've had some cursory discussion around the topic. He also had a teacher at preschool who had a baby right around the holidays, so he's aware that they live in their mommy's tummy before they are "born." Nevertheless, P and I have no idea what brought this on or why he suddenly decided to ask something so specific and out of the blue like that.
I have to say, I'm still not sure what think about this cycle. I've already been preparing myself mentally for a BFN on Friday. I've also been having a hard time with side effects of the hormone-support drugs this time, which is making it hard to not play the "was that a pregnancy sign!?" game every 5 minutes.
The two-week wait just doesn't ever get any better, no matter how many times you have to endure it...
