Still No News...

Just a quick update:  went to my check-up with the OB on Thursday this week and sadly, no progress to report still. She mentioned that things seemed a bit "softer" than last week, but my cervix is still very long and closed. I know it is early(ish) still and I know that baby's have their own timelines, but I was still kind of disappointed. I have had a few bouts of contractions over the past week that were more intense and regular, to the point where Paul downloaded an app for my android phone so that I could start timing them. The most recent spell was actually Christmas evening and I timed them for about an hour and a half; they were every 10-12 minutes and lasting around a minute in duration. They eventually went away when I went to bed. But all that to say, I had convinced myself that there would surely be some sort of progress to report when I got to my appointment. Maybe next week...

In other news, my newest and now least favorite pregnancy-induced symptom is carpal tunnel. From what the OB said, it is related to the swelling that I've recently developed, which makes sense. The swelling is putting additional pressure on the nerves in my wrist. As a result, they've started to ache and feel all tingly and weird. It isn't terrible during the day, but at night it actually wakes me up sometimes. Unfortunately, there isn't really anything they can do for it. With the holiday this week, I didn't get in to see my acupuncturist, but hopefully next week I can. Maybe he'll be able to do something to help relieve it a bit. Or maybe Flash will decide to put in an appearance soon after all :)

  1. Flash is just comfortable right now :) For some women, they walk around dilated to 3-4cm for weeks before going into labor, while others are at 0 until the day they go into labor! At least that is what Dr. Google has taught me over the last few weeks! I am hoping that I fall into the "walking around dilated for a few weeks" camp because I want to go back to work for at least Wed-Friday of next week!

I haven't had any timeable contractions yet, still just the random Braxton Hicks from what I can tell. What did your doctor think about your contractions on Christmas?

Sorry about the carpal tunnel. At least it will go away after Flash is born!

    1. Yeah - it's hard not to compare myself to others in terms of pre-labor progress :) Have to keep reminding myself that everyone does it differently!
