I think it's official... Nathan's first 3 words (used consistently in the correct context) are:
- Dada
- Uh-oh
- Kitty (pronounced "ittay" or "taytay")
No "mama" yet :( But really, he's a Daddy's boy so that's okay I suppose. He does know how to make the "mamamamamamama" sound but doesn't use it to refer to me directly yet.
Uh-oh has actually been in the picture since before the holidays. He says it when he drops something (or when someone else drops something), as well as when he falls down. The best was when we took him skiing a couple weeks ago, and he said it whenever he saw someone else fall down on the hill. If he inherited any of my clumsiness, then it will definitely come in handy throughout his life!
Kitty is relatively new. He actually uses it for any type of animal at this point (both in real life or if he sees on one the TV). We do have 2 cats, and he says it mostly about them. But our poor dog is also an "ittay" and the bunnies on the commercial the other day were "tatays" as well. It's pretty cute though, and it's definitely a distinct word (apart from other sounds and babbles he makes).
So there you go. My little man is entering the word of verbal communication. He already signs for drink/milk/thirsty and food/eat/hungry. It's so fun to be able to interact with him! And I know he understands more words than what he is able to repeat himself. With all this walking and talking going on, he is becoming such his own little person :) I love it!
So fun! Felicia is really starting to take off in the word department, too. She says mama, papa, bebe, yah (for yes), and tries to say bird, diaper, bib, and a few others. She likes to identify animals by their sound, too, especially who-whoooo for owls :) This was a fun update on Nathan to read!
